2013
In 2013, Corey ended his high school baseball career by leading Herbert Hoover High School to a state championship and being named West Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year and a Louisville Slugger All-American. He batted over .500 his junior year and .481 his senior year.
2014
Corey led his team with a .292 batting average, 49 hits, and 15 stolen bases, which ranked second in Conference USA, just one shy of the league leader. He also tied for the team lead with 20 walks, finished second on the team in on-base percentage (.370) and slugging percentage (.321), and scored 19 runs. He notched 15 multi-hit games, including four three-hit performances, and posted a team-high 16-game on-base streak. In recognition of his standout freshman season, Corey was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team and earned Second Team College Sports Madness All-C-USA honors.
2015
Corey appeared in and started 52 games, anchoring center field for the Herd. He led the team in batting average (.307), at-bats (212), runs (34), hits (65), and total bases (77), while also being a threat on the basepaths with 10 stolen bases. He posted a .373 on-base percentage and a .363 slugging percentage, recording 18 multi-hit games, including five four-hit performances, and three games with two or more RBIs. He finished the season with 23 RBIs, seven doubles, one triple, one home run, and 138 putouts in the field.
2016
Corey was named an All-Conference USA Second Team selection and earned a spot on the C-USA All-Tournament Team. He started all 55 games in center field, recording 69 hits in 230 at-bats for a .300 batting average, along with 22 RBIs, a .375 on-base percentage, and a .335 slugging percentage. He led both his team and Conference USA with 34 stolen bases.
7th round drafted by the Miami Marlins
Marshall junior outfielder Corey Bird was selected with the 203rd overall pick in the seventh round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Miami Marlins. Bird’s selection makes him the third highest draft pick in school history, highlighting his outstanding performance and potential at the next level.
2021
In 2021 Corey was called up by the Miami Marlins where his dream of being a Major League Baseball Player came to reality. Years of hard work and dedication on and off the field paid off as he signed his Major League Baseball contract and officially became a big leaguer.
